Green Acres

Green Acres (1965-1971)

This is another favored show of my youth. I knew I was gay because even at that age, I thought Eva Gabor and her hungarian accent were FABULOUS! While it was Oliver Wendell Douglas' (Eddie Albert) dream to own escape the rat races and own a farm, it was socialite wife Lisa (Eva Gabor) that seemed to fit in to the insane world of Hooterville. And what an insane world it was! Hooterville was populated by such funny characters who would drive Oliver crazy: store

owner Sam Drucker (Frank Cady), local conman Mr. Haney (Pat Buttram), mentally challenged hired hand Eb (Tom Lester), Mr. and Mrs Ziffle (Hank Patterson and Barbara Pepper) and their wunderkind son Arnold the Pig, bumbling county agent Hank Kimball (Alvy Moore) and inept brother and sister carpenter team Alf and Ralph Monroe (Sid Melton and Mary Grace Canfield). While Eddie Albert played the sane straight man, acting his character's frustration showed the comedic levels to which he could perform.
