    WHEN HARRY MET SALLY...
One of the best romantic comedies in the history of films. The year was 1989 and Hollywood was putting a close to a decade dedicated to the 80s Brat Pack and juvenille teen comedies, so the sophistication to the storyline of When Harry Met Sally... was much appreciated. But, could a romantic film starring Billy Crystal, a comedian known for characters such as Fernando and who played several seasons as a gay man on Soap, and an upcoming, but relatively unknown Meg Ryan, be pulled off? I think most people will now agree that it could and did. The story revolves around journalist Sally Albright (Ryan) and political consultant Harry Burns (Crystal) and how, after years of hating each other, found friendship in one another. But, "can men and women be friends without the sex part getting in the way?" Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan are wonderful as the title characters with fantastic back-up from Carrie Fisher and Bruno Kirby. A great soundtrack by Harry Connick Jr. against a New York background adds unforgetable character to the film.

    1989, Directed by Rob Reiner
