Jakks Pacific has been known for producing "Boys' Toys," with its most popular line being the slew of World Wrestling Federation action figures. But now, it is trying to get into producing "Girls' Toys" with the production of the G.I.R.L. Force,a series of fashion dolls that embody "the self-assured, adventurous and very fashionable teens. These Girlz set the trends, not follow them..." G.I.R.L. stands for Glamorous, Intelligent, Respected and Leaders (what more could you aspire to be? :-)).

Jaz Kulture Shock line 2000, Jakks Pacific Individual Figure The back of the box says, "Jaz...and Asian inspiration to everyone around her." What does that mean, exactly? I'm assuming their talking about her clothes, but it just popped out to me like a stereotypical line such as "She imparts the beauty of the Lotus Flower and the wisdom of Confucious." Anyway, Jaz is part of G.I.R.L. Force's Kulture Shock line, which Jakks Pacific describes as representing "our culture's melting pot of diversified fashion." In the spirit of the Kulture Shock line, Jaz is dressed in clothing with an Asian feel. Her face, however, looks a little less Asian to me. Yes, she's got the almond shaped eyes, but her facial structure looks more like a standard doll. Perhaps, if this line takes off, Jakks will employ its "Real Scan" technology to give more realistic features as it does with its wrestling action figures. But, despite all this, I should give Jakks Pacific props for thinking about an Asian-American doll in its "ethnic" mix. It's actually more rare than you think with toy companies generally choosing to stick with White, African-American and Latina dolls.
