The Matrix was a wildly popular high-tech sci-fi action adventure film released in 1999. The film told the tale of an apocalyptic world dominated by robots and where humans lead their lives in a virtual reality called "The Matrix" while their bodies are used as an energy source. So, why is The Matrix included in the Asian Pacific American Toy Chest. Well, while the martial arts in the film was choreographed by kung fu veterans Woo-ping Yuen and Daxing Zhang, this is not why The Matrix was included. The actual reason is Keanu Reeves, who many don't know is Asian Pacific American. According to KeanuNet, Keanu Reeves was born "to Samuel Nowlin Reeves (half-Hawaiian, half-Chinese) and Patric Taylor (English)...Keanu (Key-ah-nu) means 'cool breeze overthe mountains' in Hawaiian."
