Todd McFarlane was obviously inspired by anime when he created his popular Spawn comic. So, its only fitting that he comes full circle with the creation of a tribute line to anime. Spotlighting characters from Akira, Tenchi Muyo and Triggn, these figures are as wonderfully sculpted and painted as any other in the McFarlane Toys line.

Kaneda McFarlane's 3D Animation from Japan: AKIRA 2000, McFarlane Toys Akira Individual Figure Based on the popular character from Akira who loved his bike more than anything, this toy is almost a living representation of the 2 dimensional Kaneda. The sculpt is wonderful, if not too rendered. The only thing missing perhaps are some of the cow licks...but, who's going to complain. The paint is great, making the clothing look almost like real leather.

Ryoko McFarlane's 3D Animation from Japan: TENCHI MUYO! 2000, McFarlane Toys Tenchi Muyo! Individual Figure Ryoko is the mischievous demon/alien who makes life interesting for Tenchi, the hero of the Tenchi Muyo! anime. The sculpt is wonderful likeness of her from her flowing robes to her wild bluish hair. The only thing I wish is that it captured one of her more common mischievous expressions. She is smiling in this figure which you never really see her do. But, since this is an intricate three dimensional sculpt, these expressions might come off as flat. So, perhaps this is why they went with a smile. Other than that, I have no real complaints. Ryoko also comes with the alien bunny-cat pet Ryo-Ohki.
