Generally, the early history of the modern American military toy either put the Asian Pacific American in an invisible spot...or, in the role of the enemy. Before G.I. Joe started making ninjas and martial artists in its 3 3/4" line and before its production of the more classic 12" line, the only Asian G.I. Joe was an Imperial Japanese Soldier, released with the Soldiers of the World line.

G.I. JOE
G.I. Joe is one of the most well known toy lines on the market...and one of the longest surviving ones at that. Starting in the 1960s, the line started out with 12" dolls, which were very popular. But, into the late 70s and early 80s -- the birth of the 3 3/4" action figure -- G.I Joe retired the larger doll in favor of the smaller figure. With the manufacturing of smaller figures being more economical, Hasbro opened a whole new world of characters and a storyline that posed G.I. Joe against a fictional terrorist group called Cobra. Then, into the 90s, Hasbro started producing 12" dolls, which have since become extremely popular. The line is more collectible than before, focusing on military history, events and profiles. Come read about some of the APA Joes...
THE CORPS!
The Corps!, produced by Lanard toys, is pretty much based on the G.I Joe 3 3/4" line. Frankly, I think they're also vastly inferior to the Joe line, but some people will probably argue to the contrary. Anyway, read on here to find out more about them...
